Welcome to my online gallery. My photographs are an extension of the connection I feel with the outdoors, and they reflect my deep respect and love of nature and the beauty of the world we live in.
I want you to see what I see, both in the world as it is and how I perceive it to be. While the expectation is that they should be identical, that is not always the truth in reality. Many times if you were standing next to me you would not see the world as I see it. I have stories of sharing an image that I have just taken and then shared it with someone and they cannot see the same thing even if we are standing right next to each other. That is one element that makes for a great photograph. It should ask questions as well as provide an answer to what was seen. Photographs are a representation of a moment in time.
I like to share sights that you might have passed in your everyday life and show you what you have missed as you go about your daily life. One challenge for a photographer is sharing a story or vision in just one or two images.
Photographs tell a story and capture a moment in time. The photographer only has one or two possible opportunities to tell a story with their images. What I see in the lens of my camera and what I experienced at that moment is what I hope to share with you. When I pass from this world, my work will still survive and can be shared with others in some form.
When I take a photograph, it is of the world that I see and how I view the world. I hope to share my vision of the world with you. Sometimes that world will be beautiful and full of color, while at other times it will not be the world we would like it to be. It may be dark and have no color, but is an existence that is there to be seen, and hopefully improved in some way, if only we know it exists.
“Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again.”
—Henri Cartier Bresson
